Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul Razzaq Muhammad, the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad organized a training course entitled “Digital Cephalometric Analysis Using Manual and Digital Techniques.” The course was attended by a number of students and faculty members from the college.
The course aimed to introduce students to the basic principles of diagnosis using lateral cephalometric radiographs using traditional and modern methods, and to compare the various methods. It also aimed to examine the effects of treatment and growth on the bony points and soft tissues of the face. It also included determining the treatment plan for orthodontic patients based on the bony points and soft tissues of the face.
The course also included several topics, including:
– How to identify important points in the bones and soft tissues of the face, through which the patient’s condition and three types are diagnosed, and the impact this has on the treatment plan using the direct manual method on lateral cephalometric radiographs. – Mechanism for entering patient data and key points in the facial bones and soft tissues using a calculator and engineering drawing.
– Explanation of the mechanism used to enter patient data and key points in the facial bones and soft tissues using artificial intelligence.
The course recommended the need to continue holding the course annually and to update dentists and orthodontists’ knowledge of radiological diagnostic methods.
